App on Prescription

In the healthcare sector, there are numerous apps (application software) that can be used to record and document primarily physical activities or food intake. Some apps come very close to the threshold of the medical device – and some of the first apps are already classified as medical devices. One example is Tinnitracks, an app that is used as part of tinnitus therapy and is paid for by some health insurance companies.

This requires a prescription by the doctor (App on Prescription). Apps are playing an increasingly important role, not only in medical treatment, but also in medical research. The first app developed by KAIROS is the CentraXX Patient App.
