CentraXX Replaces Previous Biobanking Software at the Centralized Biomaterial Bank of the Faculty of Medicine of the RWTH Aachen University (RWTH cBMB)

From now on the Centralized Biomaterial Bank of the Faculty of Medicine of the RWTH Aachen University (RWTH cBMB) uses the system software CentraXX of the KAIROS GmbH as their biobank management system. With this decision, the RWTH cBMB emphasizes their goal to offer researchers and cooperation partners ideal conditions for research projects in the field of personalized medicine and their aim of further developing the automation of biobank processes.

The system solution CentraXX Bio replaces the previous biobank management system. With the support of the KAIROS GmbH all data of the previous software have been transferred in line with the current valid data protection regulations.

The distribution of CentraXX in the biobank community has been decisive for the transition to CentraXX. Especially the nearby location, the experience and the know-how of the KAIROS GmbH convinced the RWTH cBMB finally. The CentraXX system solutions are developed in Bochum and Berlin.

The RWTH cBMB unifies the most important biomaterial banks of the Medical Faculty of the RWTH Aachen University in one location. The areas of focus of their research projects correlate with the research and development emphases of the Medical Faculty and, amongst others, deal with flammable as well as oncological, cardiological and neurological diseases.

The RWTH cBMB has been initiated by an initial financing of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the commitment of the deanship and the clinicians of the Medical Faculty of the RWTH Aachen University in 2011. Currently it is one of an overall of eleven biobank locations promoted by the BMBF. These eleven biobank locations are part of the 2017 initiated project German Biobank Alliance and they are designated to cooperate in order to further extend the sample and data exchange. Thus, with the RWTH cBMB CentraXX is used at a further location of the big biobanks in Germany.
