New CentraXX implementation at University Hospital Münster

CentraXX Biobanking solution by KAIROS GmbH will support sample management at University Hospital Münster

Bochum – With its CentraXX biobanking software, KAIROS GmbH will support sample management at the Central Biobank (ZBB) of University Hospital Münster. This implementation will also allow networking to the CentraXX installation at University Hospital Essen to support the West German Tumor Center.

The University Hospital Münster (UKM) stands for cutting-edge medicine in the German healthcare system. With more than 55,000 patients and around 500,000 treatments per year and the demand for state-of-the-art health care, the UKM is one of the most successful institutions among the German maximum care providers.

CentraXX will be used at the University Hospital Münster in the Central Biobank (ZBB) as well as at the affiliated clinics and laboratories. With the help of CentraXX, the biosamples will be registered and their processing documented. CentraXX replaces the previously used STARLIMS system solution.

The UKM team were positively surprised by the rapid implementation of the CentraXX software solution. Together with KAIROS, the biobank team was able to transfer the data of 45,000 patients and more than 900,000 samples from the systems of the Central Biobank, Pathology and Neurology to CentraXX in a very short time via a data transfer (ETL process).

A special feature of the biobanking solution implemented here is the planned networking of UKM with the University Hospital Essen, with which users from the University Hospital Essen can direct queries of the sample inventory to the UKM, as well as vice versa. The aim is to make any labor-intensive and time-consuming e-mail inquiries obsolete.
