The DZNE Commissions KAIROS GmbH for a CentraXX IT Installation for its Biorepository

Following an extensive search for a new Biorepository Information Management Software (BIMS) the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) has awarded the contract to KAIROS GmbH.

The CentraXX system will play a central role in the DZNE biorepository by managing the partially automated biorepository and providing interfaces to integrate all software systems involved in the management of the biomaterial samples (laboratory information, management, and administrative systems).

The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, founded in 2009, is a research institution in the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers (HGF), jointly financed by the Federal Republic of Germany and eight host countries.

The DZNE bundles nationwide scientific expertise in the field of neurodegenerative diseases, which includes Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS. The research facility is not limited to one location, but is spread among ten locations in Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock / Greifswald, Tübingen, Ulm and Witten. The headquarters of the DZNE is in Bonn – where the central administration is located.

KAIROS is extremely pleased that four of the currently six German Centers for Health Research (DZG) will soon have CentraXX installations. In coordination with CentraXX users, the system will continually be improved and expanded with the goal of standardization that benefits all users in all locations.

The idea of standardizing IT solutions is an essential part of the CentraXX product DNA. KAIROS has always been convinced that IT development must be based on the often-comparable market requirements – not the other way around. This also means integrating the latest standard tools while keeping an eye on any changing legal framework conditions (e.g. data protection).
