Dr. Margarete Fischer Bosch Institute for Clinical Pharmacology (IKP)

The Robert Bosch Hospital (RBK) in Stuttgart uses the modules Study Register (CSR) and Biobank (CBB) from the CentraXX product family. The RBK is pursuing its strategy of centralisation in order to establish a new research infrastructure and thus facilitate medical research, primarily in the area of clinical pharmacology.

The Robert Bosch Hospital, which now counts more than 80 years of experience in health care, is one of the most modern and renowned hospitals in Southern Germany employing innovative treatment and research methods. It is a foundation hospital that dates back to a private initiative of Robert Bosch in 1936. The hospital, which was opened in 1973 at its current location at Burgholzhof, is run by the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Since 1978, the Robert Bosch Hospital has been one of the Academic Teaching Hospitals of the University of Tübingen. With 1,031 beds, the Schillerhöhe Clinic in Gerlingen and the Charlottenhaus Clinic in Stuttgart admit more than 43,000 inpatients per year, who are cared for by around 2,700 employees.

During the selection process for a suitable software, the teams led by the head of the IKP, Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Schwab, the managing medical director of the RBK, Prof. Dr. med. Mark Dominik Alscher, and the head of the IT department Walid Sbaih, were impressed with CentraXX, which makes the integration, processing and administration of medical data more economical and efficient.

Implementation of the system began at the beginning of 2017. The CentraXX module now primarily manages and supports clinical and interdisciplinary research at the RBK, which is carried out jointly with the IKP. As an important component of one of the few non-university hospitals with a research contract, the RBK makes an eminent contribution to the development and improvement of health care and treatment with the IKP, such as research into new therapy options based on clinical data and omics technologies, such as gene analyses.
