German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK)

The German Center for Cardiovascular Research e.V. (DZHK) (DZHK) has decided to use the CentraXX Biobanking Module (CBB) from KAIROS GmbH as part of an EU-wide tender. A focus of DZHK research at university and special clinics are clinical studies, registries and cohorts in which 17 clinical institutions participate.

In addition, non-DZHK member institutions are also requested to include patients in DZHK studies. A complex harmonization process carried out at the DZHK makes it possible to record patient data and bio-materials uniformly in each of these studies. The resulting data collection has the potential to become Germany’s most important resource for clinical research projects in the long term.

The decisive factor for the decision to rely on the CentraXX system IT solution in the future was that CentraXX fulfills precisely these requirements. CentraXX not only takes over the structured storage and administration of all data on tissue and liquid samples, but also establishes the contextual connection between the samples and existing patient data. Information from other research projects can also be imported.

Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Alexander Nauck (Greifswald University Hospital): “After the positive experiences from the successful implementation and use of the CentraXX system within the NAKO, I am looking forward to the new challenge within the DZHK. The aim here is to flexibly support numerous studies with the most varied requirements on biobanking with the innovative IT product from KAIROS, whereby international study centers will also be integrated in the future.

The DZHK is one of six German Health Research Centers (DZG), three of which have already decided to use CentraXX. In addition to the DZHK, these are the German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research (DKTK) and the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF).

Once again, this underlines KAIROS GmbH’s claim to continuously develop CentraXX into one of the leading research portals.
